I just love our national parks! We are going to make our second trip to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons in 2006, but in 2007 we will be making our very first trip to Acadia. We live in southwestern Virginia so we feel that this would be a good place to drive too. It will take two or more days. We just bought a new HI-Lo 24 ft. camper and will pull it to Acadia. My question is about the campgrounds in the vicinity of the park. From what I have read about the ones inside the park, they are basically for tents. I want electric, water and sewer as a minimum. I don't want to rough it too much. So what is your recommendations for area campgrounds. Also, has anyone driven up the east coast and camped along the way? If so, I would appreciate suggestions for campgrounds.

When I see a little more activity on this page, I have several other questions. I like to plan ahead and all my friends tell us we overdo but planning ahead is the way I feel I get to see the park without wasting a lot of time wondering what to do next. I have had reservations in YNP and GTNP since May 2, 2005 for June-July, 2006. Booked my flight and car rental last week! Thanks for the help.
